Parasailing (Havelock )
5–10minutesActivity duration
About this experience
Parasailing is the easiest way to see Havelock the way the birds do. You do not need to know how to swim well or have flying experience. A trained crew straps you into a harness, a speedboat pulls away, and the parachute lifts you gently off a platform or boat deck. From above, the water changes from pale green near the shore to deep blue farther out, and the reef shows as darker patches beneath the surface.
Elephant Beach sits on the northern side of Havelock Island and is known for its shallow coral and clear water. Unlike Radhanagar Beach, it is not reached by road: you take a short speedboat ride from the jetty or walk through forest. That small effort keeps the crowd smaller early in the morning, though it fills up by mid-morning in peak season.
The beach has simple facilities: changing rooms, lockers, restrooms and snack and coconut stalls. Entry is free. You pay only for the boat and the activities.
Best time to go:
October to May is the best window, with calmer seas and clearer water. June to September brings monsoon weather and rougher sea, so water sports are often limited or cancelled. Go in the morning: the sea is calmer, the light is better for photos, and boats to Elephant Beach run only until early afternoon.
How to book and what to carry:
Book through Bagpack2Go and choose your date. Send the age and weight of every flyer. Reconfirm the day before, because weather decides the final schedule.
Carry: a change of clothes, a towel, sunscreen, a cap, sunglasses with a strap, water, cash for small stalls, and a waterproof pouch for your phone. Wear: light clothes you do not mind getting wet and secure footwear for the trek or beach.
Traveller tips:
• Start before 9 AM. The beach gets busier by mid-morning.
• Do parasailing first then other like snorkelling.
• Keep valuables in the lockers rather than on the beach.
• If you get seasick easily take medication before the boat ride.
• Carry your own mask or ask for a properly fitted one if you add snorkelling.
• Carry your rubbish back with you.
