About Airport:

Surat Airport is one of India's oldest airports, and it has played an important role for Indian Air Force since pre-Independence times. Surat Airport is located in Magdalla, Surat, in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is the second busiest airport in Gujarat after Ahmedabad in terms of both aircraft movements and passenger traffic. Surat Airport is plagued by problems with scheduled flight services and also handles private aircraft. The airport is managed and operated by the Airports Authority of India. The airport also serves as the base of a flying training school. The Suarat Airport was handed over to AAI for future growth on September 1,  2003. The airport is connected directly or indirectly by low-cost airlines to different cities in India. The first commercial airline started services between Surat and Delhi. These airline service providers include SpiceJet, Air India, and Jet Airways. The airport has a 2,905 metre long runway. A good number of passenger facilities are also provided at Surat Airport. On July 71st, At the Independence Day celebration, Surat Airport was awarded as the 5th ranked best-decorated airport on the occasion of Independence Day.

Terminals Guide

Terminal 1: The Surat Airport has one terminal which handles domestic flights. The new terminal building at Surat Airport covers a total area of 8,500 square metres and has the capacity to handle up to 240 passengers an hour. This airport terminal has two aerobridges. It has modern amenities such as CCTV cameras, two baggage carousels, and a hand dryer. There are baggage X-ray machines, for example, at the airport.are 6 check-in counters and 2 security counters. The construction work for the expansion work on the terminal was started recently in 2020. The expanded terminal will have a total area of 25,520 sq.mt and will be capable of future expansion. It is able to handle 1800 passengers on both domestic and international flights. The new terminal will be expected to have 20 check-in counters and 26 immigration booths. counters, 5 aero bridges, baggage conveyors, and parking space to accommodate more than 500 cars. 

The cargo terminal at Surat Airport was inaugurated on January 29, 2020. AAI approved a plan for the modular cargo terminal at Surat airport. AAI has future plans to build an international cargo terminal at Surat International Airport and has reserved land for the same.
