About Airport:

Coimbatore International Airport is located at Peelamedu,13 km from the center of the city. It is the primary airport serving the city of Coimbatore in South India. The airport  was previously known as Peelamedu Civil 
The aerodrome is the 15th largest airport in India in terms of total aircraft movement, 18th largest in terms of passengers handled and 13th largest in terms of cargo handled. The airport commenced operations in 1940 as a civil aerodrome with Indian Airlines. Beginning with services to Chennai and Bangalore, other destinations like 
Cochin and Mumbai were added later. The airport is served by five Indian and three foreign carriers providing direct connectivity to 12 domestic and 3 international destinations. The Airport has one runway that is 12,500  feet long. The airport has a parking management system with a capacity to accommodate nearly 300 cars. There are two hangars in the airport; one provides housing for the planes of Coimbatore Flying Club, the other provides shelter for private carriers. The Airport is controlled and managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The new terminal of Coimbatore International Airport offers all the facilities to the passengers, which include an accommodating capacity of 350 passengers for arrival and departure each, four lifts, four escalators, two aerobridges, a taxi track runway, a new fire station, a new workshop, and a totally air-conditioned environment. Baggage services at the Coimbatore airport include the facility of Baggage carousels which is used for security purpose and for customer services as well. Lost and found baggage counters are also available at the terminal. Free trolley service is complimentary to the customers. The new terminal offers very separate halls for domestic and international passengers, and there are separate VIP rooms available at the airport, along with customs offices, duty-free shops, and banks.

This operates as a Cargo terminal and Blue Dart Aviation provides air cargo services to Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi from this Airport.

It is the primary airport serving the city of Coimbatore in South India.  The airport is well connected to the city center with public transportation. Domestic Airlines that operate at Coimbatore International Airport are Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, 
SpiceJet Airways. The major destinations that these airlines travel to are Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bangalore.
